PETG for Cost-Effective Street Aero Prints

Affordable PETG for street lips and prototypes when UV and heat loads stay moderate.

PETG is the entry material for many automotive print jobs: tough, relatively easy to print, and cost-effective. It is not the best long-term outdoor UV choice — upgrade to ASA if the car parks in sun year-round.

Best for

Street lips, show cars stored indoors, fitment prototypes before ASA production.

Avoid when

Constant sun exposure or high under-hood heat — move to ASA or engineering grades.

Cost

Usually the lowest FDM option in our quotes; first print orders also get 10% off.

Will PETG crack on a daily driver?
It can weather faster outdoors than ASA. For daily outdoor parking we recommend ASA.
Is PETG good for a first prototype?
Yes — validate fitment in PETG, then reprint critical exterior parts in ASA or PA-CF.
Can PETG be painted?
Yes with prep. Paint also adds some UV protection, but material choice still matters.
